Game Rules

Start Screen & Game Options

After the game loads, you'll arrive at the start screen. Choose "Game Options" to adjust the volume levels for background music and sound. Select "Click to Begin" when you're ready to play!

Category Selection

In TRIVIAL PURSUIT TURBO, the game contains six rounds of two questions each. Each round covers one of the six classic categories from the Genus edition of Trivial Pursuit. These categories are:

  • Art & Literature
  • Science & Nature
  • Sports & Leisure
  • Geography
  • Entertainment
  • History

When the category selection card comes up, pick any category. The early rounds are worth more, so choose your strongest categories first. For example, if you're a Geography buff, start with that category. If you don't know much about History, save that category for later. The order in which you answer questions is up to you, so maximize your score by starting with your strengths! When a category has been picked, it will no longer appear on the selection card.

Question Display

After you pick a category, you'll see the first of two question cards. Each card shows a question and four possible answers. At the right of the card is the Question Timer. You'll have 15 seconds to answer, but as the remaining time decreases, so does the value of the question. The earlier you answer correctly, the more points you'll get! But if you answer incorrectly, you'll no points at all. If you don't know the answer, you can always choose to pass by clicking the Pass Button. You'll be awarded a small amount of points for passing -- always more points than guessing incorrectly.

There are horizontal marks on the timer. Every time the meter reaches one of the marks, a wrong answer is eliminated, and the value of the question drops 25 points. When the timer runs out, only the correct answer will be left, and you'll be awarded the passing score for the question.

Answering a question correctly adds a Scoring Wedge to the scoring wheel. The color of the slice matches the current category. For example, answering a History question correctly will earn you a yellow Scoring Wedge. If you get both questions right in any category, a "2x" will appear in the scoring wheel.

Full Pie Bonus

Filling up the scoring wheel earns you the Full Pie Bonus! To do this, you need to answer at least one question correctly in each of the six categories. Answering all twelve questions correctly earns you the Perfect Pie Bonus!

Game Scoring

Each of the rounds has a base score value. This is the starting point value for the two questions in that round. It represents the maximum number of points you can earn for each question in the round. The first round has the highest base score, and the value decreases for each subsequent round. If you do not know the answer to a question, click the Pass Button or let the timer run out. Each round has a passing score you earn for passing on a question.

The maximum score value for each round is:

Round 1500
Round 2450

Game Strategy

  • Pick your best categories first! The question values decrease for each round, so start with your strengths.
  • As the Timer goes down, wrong answers are eliminated from the question card. Use this to your advantage if you've eliminated other answers on your own.
  • If you don't know the answer, don't guess! You'll still get a few points if you pass, which is better than getting it wrong.

Did You Know?

  • Choose your strongest categories first to earn the most points.
  • Guessing a wrong answer earns you no points.
  • When you don't know the answer, you can still earn some points by passing.
  • If you aren't sure of the right answer, waiting for some wrong answers to disappear might make the right answer clear to you.
  • Filling the pie (at least one Scoring Wedge of each color) earns you 150 bonus points!
  • Getting every question right earns you 250 bonus points!
  • You can press the left mouse button to dismiss a card while it is showing you the right answer.
